Hearts in My Pocket Book Cover

Hearts in My Pocket by Nancy Tupper Ling

In all circumstances, divorce is hard.

Hard on everyone involved, but for kids, there is something at their core that is rocked and altered when divorce happens to them.

So much of a child's identity is wrapped up in the love and security they receive from their family. When divorce enters the picture, questions and confusion are common for children.

I love what Nancy Tupper Ling has done with this book. In lyrical rhyme, she addresses the confusion and questions children have when divorce becomes a part of their own story. It is a reminder that love can change how it looks, but it doesn't change how loved and precious we are.

This is a sweet book for kids navigating the confusion of divorce. The illustrations are darling, and the message of love that goes with us everywhere is a message for us all.

It has similar ideas to The Invisible String but does not have a focus on a spiritual or faith-based message.
